Cheryl works full-time as a booking clerk/secretary in the health care sector.
“I have conductive hearing loss. It was gradual, and then seemed suddenly I had severe hearing loss. I had great difficulty hearing information,” she shares.
Her hearing specialist referred her to WorkBC Assistive Technology Services for help funding the hearing aids she needs for work.
“They provided me with funds towards the purchase of hearing aids,” she explains. “I am able to continue in my employment seamlessly. No one would know I have an impairment, it would not cause concern for anyone. I can carry out my job.”
Cheryl says she recommends WorkBC Assistive Technology Services, saying that as she gets closer to retirement age, she was previously concerned she’d have to leave her job early before getting her pension through work.
“I am so grateful and thankful for the funds which I did not have. It was a pretty big problem thinking how am I going to continue to work at this rate, and the hearing loss would only get worse.”
WorkBC Assistive Technology Services is operated by Neil Squire. Assistive Technology Services are available to individuals who have a work-related barrier due to a disability or a functional limitation. This may include barriers related to traveling to and from the workplace.
