There are three ways for individuals, schools, communities, and workplaces across Canada to participate in NAAW, and you’re welcome to choose any or all of these self-directed activities. No matter how you choose to take part, you’ll be helping us spread awareness of accessibility and disability inclusion.
Our Distance Computer Comfort program offers free online computer, tablet, and smartphone tutoring. Last year, we supported nearly 100 people across nine provinces and territories in building their practical computer skills. Participants worked one-on-one with volunteers to improve confidence with everyday technology, including email, documents, and online services.
The Shrub Hub is a USB switch interface that allows users to connect up to three 3.5 mm assistive switches to computers and mobile devices. It has five modes, and can send keystrokes, mouse clicks, and media control commands, with five outputs per mode.
NAAW takes place from May 31st to June 6th – it’s only 2 weeks away. With funds raised by our sixth annual Princess Ball, our Prairie Regional Office has donated four Assistive Technology Resource Kits — each containing upwards of $1,800 worth of specialized assistive technology — to support students with disabilities at Regina General Hospital and Ronald McDonald House Saskatchewan through our Solutions for Schools initiative.
