HSBC has provided $100,000 to support Neil Squire’s national Working Together program which helps people with disabilities develop the skills they need to achieve their employment goals.
Sato Academy is a four year STEM high school in Long Beach, California. With about 460 students, students in ninth to 12th grade specialize in engineering and biomedical pathways. So when teacher Tamara Araya learned about the #ATWorldRecord attempt, and the chance to learn more about DIY assistive technology, she became very excited.
On January 27th, 2017, makers and people with disabilities came together in Vancouver, BC to work with each other over a 48 hour period to develop a device that improves the quality of life for the person with a disability. By the end of the event, each team developed a working prototype.
By working collaboratively, sharing resources, knowledge, and infrastructure, the BC Spinal Cord Injury Network helps make BC the best place for people with physical disabilities to live, work, and be active.
