National AccessAbility Week

National AccessAbility Week (NAAW) 2025 takes place from May 25th to May 31st. It’s a time to promote accessibility and inclusion across Canada. This week recognizes the important contributions of people with disabilities and encourages efforts to remove barriers, creating a fair and welcoming society for everyone. Get involved and help support greater accessibility!

Communities, schools, and workplaces across Canada can all take part in three different ways:

Virtual Presentation

Watch a virtual presentation featuring inspiring speakers with disabilities who will share their personal stories, achievements, and challenges. These videos will be available for viewing during NAAW.

English Language Presentation: Paulo Guerrero

Paulo Guerrero is a 25-year-old living in Vancouver, BC. Paulo is an avid cyclist and motorcyclist but after hitting a parked car, he was paralyzed from the chest down. Since his accident five years ago, he spends time in the gym, training for athletics, working on building his future and spoiling his dogs. “Everything is so temporary, so make the most of today.”

French Language Presentation: Marjorie Aunos

Marjorie Aunos

Marjorie Aunos, Ph.D. is a researcher, speaker, and consultant on accessibility and inclusion. She teaches organizations and educators to solution-find and build environments that are accessible, inclusive, and welcoming to young families with disabilities. Her TEDx talk “What we can learn from disabled parents” was viewed over 50,000 times in the first week.

Buildathon

Receive funding and organize a build event where youth and community members will learn how to make assistive technology solutions.

Walk and Roll Event

Join or organize a neighborhood walk to show support and allyship for people with disabilities in their communities.
